Israeli aid teams in Haiti continue to assist local population

While the work of the IDF field hospital will come to a close this week, Israeli personnel, including NGOs, will remain in the country to provide assistance and support in various ways to the local population.
PM Netanyahu: "You showed the world the IDF's true face."
- IDF medical and rescue team concludes mission in Haiti

During its stay in Haiti, the medical delegation treated more than 1,110 patients, conducted 319 successful surgeries, and delivered 16 babies. The IDF Search and Rescue force rescued or assisted in the rescue of 4 individuals.

Gaza Operation Investigations: Update

On 29 January 2010, Israel released a 46-page Paper, Gaza Operation Investigations: Update, which describes Israels procedures for the investigation of allegations of violations of the Law of Armed Conflict. The Paper focuses on investigations, legal proceedings and lessons learned, in relation to the actions of the IDF in the course of the Gaza Operation from 27 December 2008 through 18 January 2009.

Deputy FM Ayalon calls on Fatah and Palestinian Authority to stop their 'Culture of Hate'
Deputy FM Danny Ayalon participated today in a press conference with the TaxPayers' Alliance, a London-based advocacy group, to highlight how international donor funds provided to the Palestinian Authority are being directly used for incitement and hate education: "If they do not stop incitement then we can't move forward with the political process."

PM Netanyahu welcomes Italian PM Berlusconi to Israel

PM Netanyahu: "We are deeply honored by your historic visit. Over the next several days, we will work to strengthen and expand the ties between Italy and Israel. We will sign a number of agreements in the fields of energy, the environment, economic cooperation, health and more."
PM Berlusconi: "Israel is at the forefront with regard to investments in technological innovations. We have already worked together on several projects, but I would like even more significant activity."

Behind the Headlines: Palestinian incitement distances peace

Despite Israel's numerous efforts to encourage the Palestinian Authority (PA) leadership to return to the peace talks, the PA continues to boycott negotiations and to incite against Israel and praise terrorists. The last week of 2009 provides a regrettable sample of Palestinian official incitement.

The continuation of incitement by the PA leadership constitutes a serious violation of the Palestinians' international obligations and calls into question their commitment to peace.

Gilad Shalit: In terrorist captivity since 25 June 2006

On Friday, October 2, 2009, Israel received a videotape of Gilad Shalit speaking.

PM Netanyahu said that the footage is important because it verifies Gilad Shalit's situation and determines that Hamas is absolutely responsible for his health and well-being.

On June 25, 2006, Gilad Shalit was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists within Israeli territory, near the Kerem Shalom crossing to the Gaza Strip in an unprovoked and well-planned attack in which two soldiers were killed and five others wounded. Gilad is one of seven ISRAELI MIAs.

Gilad Shalit: In terrorist captivity since 25 June 2006

June 25, 2009 marks three years of Staff Sergeant Shalit's captivity. Hamas continues to refuse Red Cross access to the kidnapped soldier.
On June 25, 2006, Gilad Shalit was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists within Israeli territory, near the Kerem Shalom crossing. The kidnapping was part of an unprovoked and well-planned attack which involved seven terrorists, armed with explosive charges, anti-tank missiles, light arms and more, and which made use of a tunnel under the Israel-Gaza border. During the course of the attack, two soldiers were killed, and five other soldiers wounded.

PM Olmert (17 Mar 2009): "Israel presented the other side with generous, far-reaching and unprecedented offers which were meant to lead to Gilad’s release, the practical meaning of which was the release of hundreds of terrorists, including murderers of Israeli citizens, for the possibility of returning Gilad. These offers were rejected. Others will not be delivered to the Hamas."
